Second Harvest of South Georgia is the leading hunger-relief organization in the region and the second largest food bank in the state.  We serve a 12,675 square mile region made up of 30 counties.  In addition to our Valdosta headquarters, we have branches in Albany, Douglas and Thomasville.  From these four locations, we serve more than 400 partner agencies through a variety of programs including the Food Bank, Kids Cafe, Mobile Food Pantry, and Teachers’ Harvest among others.

USDA Surplus Food Commodity Distribution.  Distribute staple foods to eligible families usually 3-4 times per year.  Food items vary.

Eligibility Requirements: 30% above the Federal Poverty guidelines

About a dozen area churches are involved in providing a dinning experience for the homeless and needy in our community.  After a devotional study, the attendees gather around tables and have dinner served to them.  There is a governing board leading this ministry and gifts are tax deductible.  The meal program is offered every Wednesday at 6 p.m.
